CalWORKS
California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids
CalWORKs, or California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids, is a program that provides assistance to students with dependent children who already receive support through TANF (Temporary Aid to Need Families).
Individuals maintain CalWORKs eligibility by either working or attending school for 32 hours per week. Students may also do both, work and attend school, to maintain CalWORKs eligibility, as long as the combined total of hours is at least 32.
One of the primary benefits for So Cal ROC/P students who are CalWORKs eligible is tuition fee reduction for SoCal ROC courses. For classes with a tuition fee of $300 or less, CalWORKs eligible SoCal ROC students pay $50. For classes with a tuition fee over $300, CalWORKs eligible SoCal ROC students pay $150.
So Cal ROC/P CalWORKs eligible students also receive individualized job finding skills and job search assistance. So Cal ROC/P students and/or potential So Cal ROC/P students who have questions about CalWORKs should contact John Giovati, Program Administrator (310) 224-4210, or La Tanya Jones, Administrative Assistant,
at (310) 224-4225.
