Message from the Superintendent
Welcome to the Southern California Regional Occupational Center, the South Bay’s premier provider of Career and Technical Education. We pride ourselves in offering quality Career Education programs in six major career strands: Agriculture and Natural Resources; Arts/Media and Entertainment; Finance and Business; Public and Consumer Services; Health Science and Medical Technology; and Engineering, Technology, and Industrial Trades.
Part of the California Public School System, our programs are offered to high school students as well as adults in the South Bay and surrounding communities at our Center located in Torrance as well as high school campuses and locations throughout the various communities we serve. High School students pay no charge for taking our classes and adults are charged a nominal fee for each course plus books and supplies.
We offer classes based on the following criteria:
Industry standards and identified career area shortages; Courses that may meet high school graduation requirements; Courses that meet UC/CSU college entrance requirements; Student interests; and courses that are part of a sequential course pathway.
We understand the importance of providing our students with not only theory-based instruction, but opportunities for “hands-on” learning opportunities as well. Many of our programs offer an on-the-job training component.
There is a difference between just having a job versus doing something for which you have a passion and can also earn good living. Our programs and career pathways will provide you with the quality educational experiences that will tap into that passion and open the doors to exciting career opportunities.
I am thrilled that you chose the Southern California Regional Occupational Center and Programs to pursue your career interest. I know you will understand very quickly why are motto is “Education With A Purpose!”
Sincerely,
Christine A. Hoffman, Ed. D.
