Students study the history of education in the United States, sociological factors influencing educational systems, education policy and politics, the psychology behind learning and teaching, curriculum design and educational standards, and assessment and evaluation in education. A multi-disciplinary approach requires students to produce essays, oral presentations, projects and to pass exams from a number of academic areas. Academic work is reinforced by 60 optional lab hours with K-9 students in public school community classrooms. Lab work relates directly to the educational theory under study. |
